FAQs
I’m not a “creative” person, is this course for me?
Absolutely. In fact we’d beg to differ. People are being creative all the time in life, we just need to become more aware of our unique process and expression.
This course aims to build creative confidence and is designed as much for a person who has not drawn since school days as for a trained artist in need of a stint of structured accountability.
Is this course live?
Yes, as well as pre recorded. The content is a mix of weekly live zoom sessions (these are also recorded and uploaded after if you can’t make those), as well as additional online content you can work through at your own pace wherever you are in the world.
Do you provide extra 1-2-1 help?
Yes! If you think having some help along the way would be beneficial, we offer coaching sessions that can be bought individually, or in a bundle of three.
Each coaching session is up to forty minutes and you can find out more by emailing hello@schoolofunknowing.com
There will be opportunities to join two live reflection seminars throughout the course (also via Zoom) with other School of Unknowing participants and share your ongoing progress, ideas and questions through an online community group.
I live outside the UK, can I still take part?
We very much welcome international participants in the course sessions! The material is delivered in English and payments can be made via PayPal or bank transfer.
Do I need any special materials or skills?
All you need is paper, pen and an open mind, but there is opportunity throughout for you to develop you ideas with whatever materials or equipment you feel you need and have available, and of course, we encourage you to do so.
If you have any specific needs, please do feel free to get in touch before the course starts so we can make sure we can facilitate the best experience for you within the context of learning and engagement.
What if I miss a week or can’t start the course on the start date?
Not a problem! Each week content for that week is released and you have unlimited access to it throughout the six weeks as well as after the course has finished.
Will you be running any workshops in person?
We’re not doing face to face workshops right now, except with pre-existing teams. In the meantime, online is a great alternative and opens up possibilities for participants to join from all over the world!
If I have a problem or concern, what should I do?
We want to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone doing the course. There might be points during the course where you feel stretched - but we think that’s a good thing!
If however you are struggling, are concerned about any interactions or have a technical problem, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at any point via the email: hello@schoolofunknowing.com
Why did you create the course?
Until recently, I ran the artist in residency programme at the V&A museum in London. There I had the privilege of appointing and mentoring artists and designers in their creative process as they developed new work and interacted with people visiting the museum.
I left that role in March 2020 to have more time for my own creative practice, but still love facilitating space for others to explore their own creativity.
